Today’s fast-paced world offers but rare opportunities for professional discussion and exchange of opinion between doctors and top experts from various fields, even though they are essential for effective treatment of patients.

Krka’s President of the Management Board and Chief Executive Jože Colarič during his welcome address.

Held on 12 September in Novo mesto, the symposium In the eyes of the experts was organised in cooperation with the Slovenian Society of Cardiology, Slovenian Hypertension Society and the Slovenian Association for Gastroenterology and Hepatology. More than 160 top doctors and key opinion leaders from 26 European and Asian countries were able to exchange experience and knowledge at the symposium.

The symposium was opened by Krka’s President of the Management Board and Chief Executive Mr Jože Colarič. The scientific part included lectures by renowned experts from Russia, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Slovenia, who discussed the treatment of cardiovascular, alimentary tract and central nervous system diseases in three parts.

In the first part, the lecturers presented and discussed treatment milestones relating to the highest achievements in science, diagnostics as well as interventional and pharmacological treatment. In the last hundred years, numerous achievements have allowed diagnostics and treatment to progress considerably.

The second part included a round table on patient compliance and its impact on treatment success. Recent analyses have shown that three out of four patients do not take their medicines according to doctor’s instructions, which leads to treatment failure; this is particularly frequent in patients with chronic conditions. An interesting discussion provided numerous answers to questions on understanding the patients and their needs, which decisively contributes to improving patient compliance.

In the third part, lecturers, based on recently published research results, discussed the direction in which treatment is heading and their views on it.

In the final part of the symposium, Krka’s Director of Marketing Ms Elizabeta Suhadolc discussed the six decades of Krka’s growth and development that have made Krka one of the world’s leading producers of generic medicines.

The participants were pleased to have attended the event as they could exchange experience and discuss future treatment challenges.
