Krka received the Index of Success Award in the category “sustainable and stable development” at the 24th Economic Forum in Poland, one of the most important forums in Central and Eastern Europe. The award was received by Krka’s President of the Management Board and Chief Executive Jože Colarič, who said that Krka would continue to develop even faster than before.

The award ceremony was held at the CE TOP 500 plenary session, when Deloitte, one of the biggest consulting firms in the world, and Rzeczpospolita, the biggest Polish economic journal, published the list of top Central European companies. Krka received the Index of Success Award for its development and stability; the Polish company PKN Orlen received the award in the category “mergers and acquisitions”.

Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, President of the Economic Council at the cabinet of the Polish Prime Minister, pointed out that the main criteria were not just profit, but also the company’s stability, development and care for the local environment.

Both awarded companies were selected by a six-member jury consisting of leading Polish academic, political or business figures, notably:

  • Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, the former Polish Prime Minister in 1991, currently holding the position of the President of the Economic Council at the cabinet of the Polish Prime Minister,
  • Jerzy Buzek, the former Polish Prime Minister from 1997 to 2001, since 2004 Member of the European Parliament and its President from 2009 to 2012,
  • Jacek Chwedoruk, Rothschild Poland,
  • Professor Michal Kleiber, a Polish scientist,  the former President of the Polish Academy of Science in 2007,
  • Alastair Teare, Deloitte and
  • Pawel Jablonski, Rzeczpospolita.

The Index of Success Award was handed out for the fourth consecutive time as part of Deloitte’s project – TOP 500 Central European Companies list. In this period the award has been well received in Central Europe and has become an important validation of the top companies’ achievements in this part of the world.

The methodology for selecting the best companies is precisely defined. The criteria for selecting 30 finalists from the TOP 500 list are:

  • Financial indicators,
  • Operation in Central Europe,
  • Transparency of operation, public-limited company and accessible financial reports,
  • Financial results in the past three years must present long-term financial stability,
  • Subsidiaries with production and distribution centres in at least three foreign countries.

Mr Colarič also participated in the round table “The New Role of Central Europe”, where the possibilities created by the free market were discussed.

Since its beginnings, the fundamental mission of the Economic Forum, which this year was opened by Lech Walesa, has been to create favourable conditions for developing political and economic cooperation between the European Union and neighbouring countries. The Forum discussions were centred mostly on the model of cooperation between the European Union and Central European countries.
