The Slovenian business daily Finance held the 23rd contest for the best annual report, giving Krka the highest award in the category of large companies.

David Bratož, a member of the Management Board, received the award on behalf of Krka.

The award ceremony was held on 24 November at the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ljubljana. Mr Bratož received the plaque, highlighting the fact that we further strengthened the position as one of the leading generic pharmaceutical companies in the world. The year 2021 was one of the most successful for us, notwithstanding the pandemic that affected business operations last year. We have received the award for the eighth time, which shows that our efforts to upgrade reporting are recognised. The award at the same time presents a challenge and responsibility for us to continue upgrading our reports also in the future.

‘Our vertically integrated business model combined with business excellence at all levels remains the foundation of our success. We focused on excellence in our 2021 Annual Report, as it facilitates our long-term success and continued growth. The year 2021 was excellent in many ways: we maintained and strengthened leading positions in our key markets, pursued the development strategy through our portfolio of value-added medicines, and continued long-term and profitable growth. We understand that orientation towards sustainability, appropriate response to challenges and opportunities relating to the environment and society and corporate governance, or ESG, are decisive elements of a successful business story and good business performance. We have therefore paid increased attention to them,’ maintained Mr Bratož.

In 2021, we specified materiality of sustainability topics, updated reviews of key stakeholders, included them in identification of the ESG topics significant for Krka, and drawn up the list of key ESG areas. The integral annual report includes comprehensive GRI standard indicators and certain SASB standard indicators for pharmaceutical industry. We also identified major sustainable development goals of the United Nations that we help achieve through our business. The Krka Group finds good health and well-being its most important goal, and we can contribute to it the most through our core business.

The communication story of our annual report focused on sustainability perspectives as well, giving priority to research excellence. We in cooperation with educational institutions have been encouraging young talent for over 50 years to engage in research and development and attracting them to Krka. Their knowledge helps us reach the goal: to provide accessible and effective treatment with value-added medicines of highest quality to over 50 million patients worldwide. We also presented innovations, our employees’ important contribution to progress of the company.
