Krka’s President of the Management Board and Chief Executive of many years Miloš Kovačič has died aged 81. Miloš Kovačič, who was born on 30 September 1934 in Novo Mesto, graduated from pharmacy to find employment at Krka in 1964. He was the director of marketing and sales for 17 years. In 1985 he was appointed the President of the Management Board of Krka, and four years later the company’s Chief Executive. From 1997 to the end of 2004 he was Krka’s President of the Management Board and Chief Executive. He retired at the end of 2005.

Miloš Kovačič devoted his entire working life of 40 years to the development of Krka. With his knowledge and experience, he paved the way for Krka on the global markets, thus greatly contributing to the company becoming one of the leading generic pharmaceutical companies. Good business results during all the years under his management were the consequence of the company’s successful development, penetrating marketing strategies, as well as Kovačič’s care for the employees. With his knowledge and experience he greatly contributed to professional and socially engaged organisations outside Krka.

He received many awards and recognitions including the award conferred by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for exceptional business achievements in 1991 and the Manager of the Year Award in 1992. In 1997, 1998 and 2000 he was named the most successful Slovenian director and in 2004 the Managers’ Association of Slovenia awarded him the lifetime achievement award for special achievements in management. In 2001 Kovačič was awarded the Commander’s Cross Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland for his special merit in the development of the Polish-Slovenian cooperation. In 2002 he received the Silver Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia for his work and contribution to the Slovenian economy and the development of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as his engagement in social, patron and organisational activities. In 2003 he was awarded the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation for his merit in strengthening the economical and friendship ties between the Russian Federation and Slovenia.

He will remain in our memories as a devoted Krka employee and a man of the world, proud of Krka and its people.
