At Krka, volunteering is more than just an endeavour – it is an integral part of the company’s identity. Since incorporation, volunteering has been recognised as an important expression of social responsibility that has been gradually evolving and strengthening over the decades. The idea of a joint initiative first emerged in 2012 and has since become one of the company’s key initiatives for connecting employees.
Krka volunteers demonstrated yet again that mutual support, collaboration and willingness to help constitute the core values that bring Krka employees together. For the thirteenth consecutive year, nearly 1,000 volunteers helped spread a culture of care and cooperation through a wide range of activities across Slovenia and 24 other countries. The Week held under the slogan Always Ready to Help concluded with an Open Day in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, which was attended by more than 1,600 participants from the Slovenian Third Age University.

Volunteering as a cornerstone of corporate culture
This year was once again marked by exceptional commitment. We are particularly pleased to see an increasing number of young colleagues and newly recruited employees joining volunteer work. As in previous years, the initiative extended well beyond Slovenia and took place in 24 countries where Krka has established its operations.

An entire week dedicated to cooperation and openness
During the Week, Krka volunteers supported various vulnerable groups, including older people, children, socially disadvantaged individuals and people with special needs.
Across Slovenia, volunteers visited 23 care homes for older people, spending time with residents through conversations, walks, exercise and creative activities. We organised sports and cultural events, creative and dance workshops, and swimming activities at Terme Krka for children and adults from 19 institutions and special schools. We provided educational support to children and assisted humanitarian organisations in their everyday work. Field support also played an important role: together with the Slovenian Red Cross and Caritas organisations, volunteers helped prepare food packages and assisted vulnerable individuals with everyday tasks, from cleaning living spaces to carrying out basic repairs.
Volunteers also supported animal shelters, planted new trees and took part in many other activities. The results of these collective efforts were remarkable: we collected 2.4 tonnes of clothing and essential items, 51 kilograms of pet food, and prepared 960 food packages. Blood donation remains an important tradition: this year, blood donation drives were held in Ljubljana, Novo Mesto, Krško and Ljutomer where we collected 65 litres of blood and once again contribute to saving lives. The Week concluded with an Open Day at Krka’s headquarters in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The event brought together more than 1,600 participants from the Slovenian Third Age University from across the country, once again highlighting the importance of intergenerational cooperation.
