Always ready to lend a hand: 12th Krka’s Week of Charity and Volunteering

3 min. read

Come rain or shine, the value of volunteering is undeniable. This is clearly demonstrated by Krka volunteers, united by a common goal of helping those in need and contributing to a more equitable society. Krka volunteers spread positivity through blood donations, collecting supplies, socialising with residents of various facilities and the elderly, caring for abandoned animals, and engaging in other activities.

At the beginning of the week, our colleagues from Novo mesto, Ljubljana, Ljutomer, and Skopje (North Macedonia) donated blood, a precious gift that can save lives. Our colleagues also spent two days at the Novo mesto Intermunicipal Society of Blind and Partially Sighted, where they enjoyed bowling with its members and socialising at the reading circle ‘Reading in the dark’. Through various workshops, baking cookies, and music, our volunteers also brightened the day for the residents of retirement homes in Novo mesto, Ljutomer, four retirement homes in Ljubljana, and in Šmarjeta.

In Strunjan, we enjoyed a magic show and took a walk in the neighbourhood with residents of the Special Education Centre Elvira Vatovec. We organised a picnic for residents of the Novo mesto Occupational Activity Centre and the Polžek Society, where they enjoyed horseback riding and danced to music played by Krka volunteers. We prepared some interesting workshops at the Ljutomer Occupational Activity Centre, while Krka volunteer Betka Luštek and her team performed The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats for the pupils of the Novo mesto Dragotin Kette Primary School. Our volunteers offered learning assistance to children at the Association for Developing Voluntary Work Novo mesto. They also presented the countries of Eastern Europe where Krka operates to the “Anita Ogulin and ZPM” Association.

The campaign is also active in 21 countries where Krka has its companies and representative offices

Krka employees in Czechia held a charity bazaar to collect clothes and hosted a sock drive to support cancer patients. In Belarus, Krka volunteers planted trees and helped at a centre for children with special needs. In the Russian Federation, they helped in orphanages and shelters, and assisted in saving birds affected by the oil spill in the Black Sea. Krka employees from TAD Pharma planted honey plants. In Turkmenistan, they collected necessities for an animal shelter. In Uzbekistan, they organised a clean-up campaign, and in North Macedonia, they donated blood. In Italy, Krka employees have traditionally supported the non-profit Banco Farmaceutico Foundation, which collaborates with charities to provide access to medicines.
