PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The pharmacists and chemists from the Pharmaceutical Development department develop new pharmaceutical forms for generic prescription pharmaceuticals, non-prescription products, animal health products and food supplements.

Competition among generic pharmaceutical companies is fierce, which is why we need to make our products stand out. This can be achieved if a product or process has a distinct patented feature resulting from in-house development.

Most often we develop solid pharmaceutical forms with immediate-, delayed- or modified-release in the form of tablets, film-coated tablets and capsules filled with pellets, powder or granulate. Liquid and semi-liquid pharmaceutical forms are developed on a smaller scale.

Researchers working on analytics development are involved in the planning and development of new products and improve existing products based on the results of various analytical techniques. The researcher’s main task is to develop new analytical methods and procedures, introduce new analytical techniques and determine quality criteria for finished products and incoming active pharmaceutical ingredients.

The Pharmacokinetics and Preclinical Research department tests Krka’s medicines, ensuring their high-quality, safety and efficacy.

API R&D

The API R&D department develops the synthesis and technological procedures for the production of active ingredients, and for the transfer from lab to pilot scale. Simultaneously with these procedures we develop analytical methods and prepare pieces of the API so that the API can be integrated into the finished product.

We provide professional support to colleagues from other organisational units that require chemical explanation related to chemical mechanisms, the formation of degradation products and material stability. We also provide technical support for all the  processes mentioned above.
