Light pollution
We are aware of the impact of light pollution – six years ago we began upgrading our outdoor lighting responsibly and significantly reduced total rated electric power since then.
WITH SYSTEMIC SOLUTIONS TO LOWER CONSUMPTION
Light pollution involves the emission of light from light sources. It increases the environment’s natural luminosity and leads to health-related issues. It also makes the stars in cities less visible at night, disrupts astronomical observations, wastes energy and impacts ecosystems.
Parking areas, traffic routes (i.e. roads and pedestrian areas), transport and warehousing facilities at our production and business sites in Slovenia are lit with outdoor lighting. Our signage and billboards are also illuminated.
Outdoor lighting, signage and billboards are regulated by the astronomical clock. At major sites, the consumption of electric power for outdoor lighting is measured separately.
Krka upgraded its outdoor lighting responsibly and significantly reduced total rated electric power. In 2023, total rated power for all sites in Slovenia amounted to 25 kW, or 17% less than in 2014 at the Novo mesto site alone.
