One of our main environment protection goals is to have as comprehensive and as effective wastewater treatment policy as possible. By treating wastewater we protect surface and groundwater against organic and microbiological pollution and the presence of nitrogen and phosphorous compounds.
EFFICACY AND A PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE ARE KEY
We use various physical, chemical and biological processes to remove pollutants from wastewater. Our specialised teams comprising experts from the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, microbiology, mechanical engineering, sanitary engineering and others work to preserve long-term water quality at all Krka production sites.
WE ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERMITS
Our operations comply with the Decree on the Emission of Substances and Heat in the Discharge of Waste Water from Installations for the Production of Pharmaceutical Products and Active Substances, which serves as the basis for environmental protection permits issued for individual Krka production sites.
Wastewater management (total ELU*)
*Environmental load units (ELUs) according by year constitute the prescribed mathematical calculation of pollution from all wastewater outlets in Slovenia (Ločna, Šentjernej, Bršljin, Ljutomer, and Krško). The calculation takes into account the annual wastewater rate of discharge, organic pollution, nitrogen, phosphorous, and suspended solids load, as well as the effect of wastewater treatment.
