We use water resources responsibly

We regard water as a key strategic and vitally important natural resource. As such it is handled with the care it deserves. We carefully plan, monitor and control water consumption. All water systems are managed in line with Good Manufacturing Practice and the HACCP system.

The pharmaceutical industry uses less water compared to certain other industries, though very strict water quality standards still apply. We devote a lot of effort to preserving the quality of water bodies in all production-based locations. All water systems at Krka are managed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice and the HACCP system.

WE ENCOURAGE OUR EMPLOYEES TO DRINK TAP WATER WHEREVER WORK CONDITIONS MAKE THIS POSSIBLE.

Tap water is considered potable from a health care standpoint and a much better alternative to bottled water, which increases the amount of waste.

Potable water consumption (in thousand m3)

Potable water consumption is monitored by a computerised control system which records total flow rate and total consumption at the plant input and main user points. We can immediately identify any increase in potable water consumption by closely monitoring and investigating the underlying reasons.

Consumption of river water (in thousand m3)

Approximately 50% of total river water is used for cooling through various heat exchangers, especially in API production, while the rest is used for preparing technological waters to meet the demands of energy supply and production.
